Smithy Cottage in Abbotsham, originally the village blacksmith's home, dates from the mid C19th and retains period charms.  The Victorian stone built property is a retreat popular with couples looking for a romantic getaway or for family breaks (sleeps 2 or up to 3 plus cot).

This enchanting character two bedroom stone built cottage is cosy & decorated traditionally. It has an open fireplace, central heating, jacuzzi bath.  period broad plank, waxed pine internal doors throughout

The cottage overlooks a small gravelled garden to the front with picnic bench table and a lane leading to countryside and the coast and coastal path popular with walkers.  Upstairs there are views to the rear over the original adjoining smithy, garden and fields to the rear. The village pub is a short walk away. Shops in nearby town of Bideford.

Smithy Cottage is tucked away in a quiet country lane in the attractive village of Abbotsham, near Bideford and the River Torridge estuary in Devon, SW England, UK. A romantic, cosy retreat near to open countryside, the accommodation is ideal for breaks away from it all relaxing in front of an open fire. It is semi detached with another cottage (to the right of the phooto above) and joined to the original Smithy which is behind (now a private residence). The front of the property is double glazed. There are period broad plank, waxed pine internal doors throughout.

Smithy Cottage sleeps from 2 to 3 (two to three) plus cot.

The pretty gabled front entrance porch leads to the small hall and cosy living room where there is:

Abbotsham nestles in gently rolling hills next to the spectacular north Devon coast near to the ancient trading port and market town of Bideford some 2 miles (3km) away. An excellent base for exploring Devon and Cornwall Smithy Cottage is only 1 mile (1.5 km) from the coast and the South West Coast Path.

Discover the breathtaking coastal and moorland scenery of this area of north Devon & Cornwall with its fishing, smuggling and shipwrecking history.T here are many interesting local walks and beaches to explore. Abbotsham has an ancient (C15th) thatched pub and church about five minutes walk. The nearest supermarket is about 1 mile (1.5 km). 

Explore secluded coves, some of the UK's most picturesque and often deserted beaches, quaint local villages and the quiet, winding country lanes with their characteristic hedgerows home to many wild flowers and wildlife. Take a boat or helicopter on a day trip by sea from Bideford to timeless Lundy Island (Lundy is Norse for Puffin Island) or walk along the nearby 180 mile Tarka Trail (including 21 mile cycleway). Find some irresistible bargains at the many local markets and the nearby discount outlets.
